Superman

KICK THE KANGAROO / LARS THOMASSEN

At 10 am I woke up in my bed

And I was sure

This would be the final day

I had found the cure

At 10.15 I tied my shoes

And opened up the door

Doing things that I had done

So many times before

As simple as it is

It’s difficult to miss

The superman inside my head

Is longing for a kiss

So eager to forget

The troubles up ahead

So spin the wheel of fortune

In a blaze of yesterday

Twelve o’clock I’m stopping

at the drive-in up ahead

Spilling coffee in my lap

As I break for red

At 2 pm I parked the car

And took a stroll along

There’s a will if there’s a way

There’s a place to run

As simple as it is

It’s difficult to miss

The superman inside my head

Is longing for a kiss

So eager to forget

The troubles up ahead

So spin the wheel of fortune

In a blaze of yesterday

Could you give me wings to fly away

Flying on the blaze of yesterday

5 o’clock I open up the door

You say hello

Asking me: “How was your day?”

I say: “So and so”

9 pm we watch the news

Again it’s heaven sent

I make a promise to my self

Tomorrow it will end

As simple as it is

It’s difficult to miss

The superman inside my head

Is longing for a kiss

So eager to forget

The troubles up ahead

So spin the wheel of fortune

In a blaze of yesterday
